Did Scott Boyd Orchestrate a Write-in Election Scheme With His Bogus Candidate Stepdaughter to Possibly Pave the Way for McKinnon Groves?

Scott Boyd Buddy Betsy VanderLey (left) Lost the Orange County District 1 Commissioner Election to Environmental-Law Attorney Challenger Nicole Wilson (right), After “Bogus-Write-in-Candidate-Boyd” Orchestrated a “Write-in-Scheme” With His Very Own 20-Year-Old College Student Stepdaughter.

As we approach the final McKinnon Groves vote before the full board of Lake County Commissioners on September 7th, if anyone is wondering whether they can trust former Orange County Commissioner, Scott Boyd to do the right thing with his development — an Orlando Sentinel story from July 15, 2020 might help give you some insight into the man, the myth and the legend.

It appears our McKinnon man-of-the-hour — “Bogus-Write-In-Candidate-Boyd” as he was known back in 2020 — will do whatever is necessary in order to rig the right outcome for himself and his friends.

In the Orlando Sentinel video and supporting story linked below, reporter Scott Maxwell reveals how Boyd engaged in what he calls a “scummy write-in-scheme” in order to help his political buddy Betsy VanderLey, who was trailing newcomer Nicole Wilson. Wilson ultimately won Boyd’s old seat in the Orange County District 1 Commissioner election, despite Boyd’s “icky interference”.

As Scott Maxwell reports, Boyd arranged a “BOGUS WRITE-IN CANDIDATE” in order to attempt to defeat challenger Wilson and this candidate just happened to be Boyd’s very own 20-year-old college student stepdaughter — Hannah Burns.

Maxwell writes that when a Sentinel reporter asked to speak to candidate Burns about her campaign — her stepfather “Bully-Boy-Boyd” apparently attempted to BULLY the reporter by responding: “You don’t need to talk to her.”

In a follow up report by Maxwell, Boyd later said that “he may have chosen his words poorly”.

But as Maxwell points out, Boyd “offers no apologies for exploiting Florida’s write-in loophole” to attempt to game an election for his own interests.

It’s worth emphasizing that current Orange County District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson is an environmental-law attorney and the absolute perfect candidate to protect the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement area in her District 1 that is now threatened by Scott Boyd’s McKinnon Groves Housing Hellscape.

Could it be that Bully-Boy-Boyd was attempting to rig the election for VanderLey with his bogus candidate stepdaughter in order to eliminate any possible future District 1 political opposition he might have encountered to advancing his McKinnon Groves development?

Perhaps someone should ask Bogus-Bully-Boy-Boyd for an explanation why he used his stepdaughter’s name to attempt to manipulate a local election?

Whether it’s choosing his words “poorly” or his propensity to “misspoke” from time to time, one has to wonder what developer Boyd really has planned for his fledgling McKinnon Groves — “IF” he gets a green-light on September 7th.

That’s IF.
